1. How much will the Brownsburg Aquatic Center cost?

The total cost is estimated to be just under $18 million.

3. Why hasn’t there been a community vote to determine if the community wants to pay for this?

The community has consistently indicated, through statistically valid surveys, community workshops, and charrettes over the last 10 years of strategic master plan that indicate that community wants a pool! that an aquatic center is their top priority. A referendum vote is only required when the project will directly raise property taxes.

4. What happens if the project goes over $18 million?

Due to the requirements of the bond, this project cannot go over $18 million. If costs are above budgeted prices, features may be cut or completed in phases to save money.

5. How will this facility generate funds to support itself?

We are considering all revenue sources for the aquatic center, including membership fees, rental fees, and programming. A business plan will be released in mid-November.

6. Why can’t the funds go towards improving our infrastructure?

The 2024 budget allocates funds for numerous infrastructure upgrades, such as Watermill Splash Pad improvements, $1 million in road resurfacing, College and Main St. Storm Sewer Separation, water Main and Service Line Replacement, Northeast Sewer Interceptor, Radio Read Meter Installation, Antenna Towers, and various traffic signals. Moreover, some infrastructure projects are eligible for state and federal grants.

7. Will my water bill go up as a result of this facility?

No, water utility bills are directly for the cost of water to a home or businesses.
