The Blast Off playground at Williams Park is 21 years old this year. You may have noticed the rooftops of the feature recently received a fresh coat of paint, but that's not the only improvement coming to this popular site.
If you're new to town, you may not know that Blast Off was built thanks to the hard work of a group of moms. The women recruited more than 300 volunteers to build the structure over a five-day period. They also included the feedback of elementary students in the playground's design.
With this legacy in mind, October 25 through October 29 we're kicking off Phase 1 of Blast Off Playground Renovations 2.0 to make repairs in priority areas and add new features. We're seeking 10-15 volunteers per day over a five-day period. Volunteers must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, walk across uneven terrain, and use power tools. Tools and other equipment will be provided. If you're interested in a four or eight hour shift, fill out the contact form on our volunteer page.
Can't help right now? Consider helping us with Phase 2 of the Blast Off Playground Renovations to provide new surfacing and additional features in 2022. If you're interested in supporting our renovation by making a donation, send a check made out to Brownsburg Parks with a note that your donation is for Blast Off Playground to the Hendricks County Community Foundation, 6319 E.
