Car Seat Program

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death in children under the age of 14 in the U.S. Four out of five seats are installed improperly. It is important for caregivers to have the most up-to-date, accurate information about transporting their children safely. We have certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPST’s) on staff to provide education and best practice. Brownsburg Police Department is excited to partner with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute and the Automotive Safety Program as a Permanent Fitting Station to proudly serve our community.

As a permanent fitting station, we are able to accept appointments from families in the community to have a car seat checked. We check to make sure the car seat is appropriate for the child, that the child fits in the car seat well, and that the car seat is installed in the vehicle correctly. If certain criteria are met and supplies are available, we are able to provide a replacement car seat after the caregiver completes education about the car seat and installation. You can make an appointment by calling Officer Crosby at 317-852-1109, Ext. 9498.
